꽃샘추위

On my return from the picturesque island of Jeju, Seoul welcomed me with my first snow day (ever!!!!!!! falling!!!!! snow!!!!!!!! AHHHHH). 꽃샘추위 a Korean saying that translates to describe last burst of cold before Spring starts (this was the beginning of March) meant that that weekend the snowfall would cover Edae's campus in a blanket of fresh snow within the four hours I was out.

Here are some bits and pieces of the cold-spring welcome:

Places:
Ewha's Women's University (Line 2, Edae Stn.)
Gyeongbukgung (Line 3, Gyeongbukgung Stn.)
Bukchon Hanok Village (Line 3, Anguk Stn.)
Insadong (Line 3, Anguk Stn.)
Food Stalls outside Noryangjin (Highly recommend! Line 1 or 9, Exit 3 Noryanjin Stn).

changing with the seasons

So recently I've made a big zipcode change. A 14 hour plane ride across the Pacific on Singapore Airlines (14 hours worth of their very extensive movie library) and I find myself back in Seoul.

A lot of people asked me why I chose Korea to study abroad and although there's a litany of reasons the biggest factor was the overall aesthetic of the country. Seoul's a city dictated by neutral hues (my favorite: black, white, grey, and beige) and sartorial heroes in bombers and white sneakers. It's literally a city after my own heart.

It's been about three weeks since I've arrived. Before I could really even unpack my program sent me an hour out of Seoul (by plane),  and this time I got to go to Jeju along with my program (the UCEAP program) as well as explored the hubs around Yonsei University (Sinchon + Edae). I'm going to be here until mid-June and am slowly crossing things off my bucket list. Unlike last time, where I felt the need to see all of this city in 10-days, I'm hopefully going to be able to blog about each place with more depth.
